22 Jan – A good action scene is always a welcome sight for movie fans, and the car park scene in "Singham" gives many car park scenes a run for their money.
The clip shows Singham exiting a car door in the car's mid-flip, similar to what Bruce Willis did in "Surrogates". The tires had to be slip enhanced so they do not smoke up when screeching, and a cable at the other end pulling the vehicle so it keeps going in the correct direction. On the other hand, Willis likely had special effects to create the smoothness to appear like its one take, while in "Singham", step zooms was used to hide the cutting-in of several takes.
Having a car tumble overhead but missing the hero is more common, but is similarly executed by having the oncoming tumble start at a far distance, shot from a tight tele-shot to look near. Cut to the point where the tumbling vehicle passes overhead, the usual crane-hoisted pass happens, but Rohit Shetty impressively places the villain half-hanging out the window enough for Singham to reach up and pull him out of the car at twice the speed the car is flying over his head in slow motion.
The 2011 Bollywood action film is a remake of the 2010 Blockbuster Indian Tamil film Singam featuring Suriya, about an honest police Inspector named Bajirao Singham (Ajay Devgn) who is known for his peaceful solutions to problems. However, when Jaikant, an ex-convict on parole refuses to abide by Singham's terms, he gets Singham transferred to Goa, where the authorities are all under Jaikant's payroll, to teach Singham a lesson.
"Singham" was released in Malaysia on 22 July 2011 and stars Ajay Devgn, Kajal Aggarwal and Prakash Raj. The film is directed by Rohit Shetty.
Meanwhile, the original Tamil movie; "Singam" which spawned this Bollywood remake, is set for a sequel with Suriya, Anushka Shetty and Hansika Motwani in lead roles. Stay tuned!
