25 May – Actress and comedian Anne Meara, mother of actor-director Ben Stiller, was reported to have passed away last Saturday.

Husband Jerry Stiller and son Ben released a statement to Associated Press informing of her death, though no further details were provided.

Meara, 85, was one half of the 1960s "Stiller & Meara" comedy team, alongside her husband who is also described as her "partner in life". The duo has been married for 61 years.

Meara previously stated that she had never thought of doing comedy until Stiller suggested it. Their comedy act went on to become a big hit, earning them nationwide recognition until they eventually became regulars on "The Ed Sullivan Show" as well as "The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson".

After gaining fame with "Stiller & Meara", and winning awards for radio and TV commercials they made together, the actress started doing more TV and movie works. Meara had appeared in movies such as 2008's "Sex and the City", 2006's "Night at the Museum" and voiced Winnie in last year's "Planes: Fire & Rescue". She also had an uncredited role in Ben Stiller's 2001 movie, "Zoolander".

Apart from her husband and son, Meara is survived by daughter Amy and several grandchildren.
