Robert Downey Jr. to receive MTV Generation Award

3 Apr – Robert Downey Jr. is getting the highest honor at the upcoming 2015 MTV Movie Awards, to be presented to him by none other than his "Avengers" co-stars!

MTV has announced that Downey Jr. will be honored with the MTV Generation Award, an accolade "acknowledging an actor who has engaged the MTV audience throughout their career". Johnny Depp, Jamie Foxx, Reese Witherspoon and Tom Cruise are among the past recipients of the award.

The "Avengers" stars Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo and Jeremy Renner are set to assemble this 12 April at Nokia Theater L.A to present the "Iron Man" with the award.

"Throughout his career, Robert Downey Jr. has mesmerized audiences by capturing the humanity in larger-than-life characters like Charlie Chaplin, Sherlock Holmes and Tony Stark," President of MTV Stephen Friedman said in a statement. "He's a brilliant actor and a Hollywood icon, and we are proud to recognize his tremendous passion and talent with this year's Generation Award."

The 49-year-old actor last year appeared in "Chef" and "The Judge", the latter which was not shown in Malaysia. His last Marvel superhero appearance was in 2013, in the high grossing "Iron Man 3". It made USD1.2 billion worldwide; collecting USD13.9 million in Malaysia and USD10 million in Singapore.

Downey Jr. will be seen next in this month's "Avengers" sequel, 2016's "Captain America 3" and possibly an upcoming "Iron Man 4".

"The Avengers: Age Of Ultron" assembles in cinemas this 23 April.
