22 Dec - The hype that the "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" has created thus far is undeniable, with almost all screens at cinemas allocated to screen the movie. To fuel the hype even more, now a Tamil dubbed version of the movie will also be shown in Malaysia.
The English version of the movie was released on 17 December 2015 and it has managed to collect RM12.34 million in Malaysia over the weekend according to box office figures published by BoxOfficeMojo.com.
The Tamil dubbed version of the film catering especially for the Tamil language speaking cinemagoers, will be shown at selected Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC) where the demographic is to more prevalent.
The cinemas which will be screening the Tamil version of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" are GSC Nu Sentral, GSC Quill City, GSC Klang Parade, GSC IOI Puchong, GSC Sunway Carnival, GSC Amanjaya SP, GSC IOI City Putrajaya and GSC Terminal 1.
Based on the trailer, it can be deduced that the movie is the same professionally dubbed Tamil version which will also be shown in India this Friday.
Unlike the rest of world, "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" will only premiere in India on 25 December 2015, hence the availability of the Tamil version here.
Despite the dissatisfaction expressed by hardcore "Star Wars" fans in India, the release date push in India was done to make way for two big Bollywood movies, "Dilwale" starring Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol, and "Bajirao Mastani" starring Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone which was released worldwide last week.
In Malaysia, "Dilwale" opened at number three, while "Bajirao Mastani" opened at number twelve at the local weekend box office chart. "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" made its debut at the number one spot.
UPDATE, 23 Dec 2015: TGV Cinemas will also be screening the Tamil version of "Star Wars : The Force Awakens". The cinema locations are TGV Cinemas KLCC, TGV Cinemas Rawang, TGV Cinemas AEON Bukit Mertajam.
