Date Posted: 25 July 2016

Brie Larson is the new Captain Marvel.

25 Jul – "Marvel's Captain Marvel" has found its titular star and it is none other than Academy Award-winning actress Brie Larson!

News of Larson eyeing the 'Marvel'ous role broke last month and it was finally confirmed by Marvel Studios at San Diego Comic-Con recently, according to Comic Book Movie.

The 26-year-old will be playing Captain Marvel a.k.a. Carol Danvers, an air force pilot who gains superhuman strength after her human genes were accidentally fused with that of an alien.

No director has been announced yet for the movie, but it is said that Larson is already cast for the role now since she will be appearing first in "Avengers: Infinity War" prior to her solo outing.

This good news is not the only cause for Marvel fans to celebrate, however, as a new concept art concerning a certain web-slinger revealed another major update in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Spider-Man battles Vulture in "Spider-Man: Homecoming".

Back in April, Michael Keaton – who previously starred as the titular hero in DC's 1989 "Batman" – was rumoured to be taking on the role of an undisclosed villain in "Spider-Man: Homecoming". Now, not only has the news been confirmed but Keaton's antagonist role was also finally revealed.

The movie's new concept art showed Tom Holland's Spider-Man fighting against Keaton's villainous character, The Vulture.

Directed by John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, "Homecoming" will also feature Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark / Iron Man and Marisa Tomei as Aunt May, who both also appeared in this year's "Captain America: Civil War", in which Holland made his Spidey debut.

"Marvel's Captain Marvel" is expected to be released in North America on 8 March 2019, while "Spider-Man: Homecoming" is swinging into cinemas on 6 July 2017.
