23 May – Despite the fact that chief filming for the movie wrapped up months ago, Zack Snyder has handed the reins to "Justice League" over to Joss Whedon and leave the editing and filming of some additional scenes for Whedon to helm.

Snyder's wife Deborah, who is also working on "Justice League" as producer, is following his lead and taking a break.

The events that lead to their shared decision are extremely tragic.

The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Snyder's daughter, Autumn Snyder, committed suicide in March at the age of 20.

Autumn's death was kept out of the public eye with only a small inner circle aware of the tragedy.

Initially, Warner Bros. offered to postpone the project and extend the release date of "Justice League" to give the family time to deal with their loss, but Snyder was eager to return to the movie and keep himself busy.

Snyder said: "In my mind, I thought it was a cathartic thing to go back to work, to just bury myself and see if that was the way through it. The demands of this job are pretty intense. It is all-consuming. And in the last two months, I've come to the realisation...

"I've decided to take a step back from the movie to be with my family, be with my kids, who really need me. They are all having a hard time. I'm having a hard time."

Snyder has seven other children, five from his previous marriages and two others he adopted with Deborah.

Whedon was originally brought in to write the extra scenes Snyder wanted to add to his rough cut of "Justice League", but as they were preparing to shoot the scenes in England, Snyder realised that he couldn't leave home so soon after the loss of his daughter.

"I want the movie to be amazing, and I'm a fan, but that all pales pretty quickly in comparison," Snyder said. "I know the fans are going to be worried about the movie, but there are seven other kids that need me. In the end, it's just a movie. It's a great movie. But it's just a movie."

Snyder opted to leave the project and help his family heal, allowing Whedon to step in.

Both men are big names in the superhero movie community, with Snyder being a part of the DC Extended Universe before it was even named as such and Joss as the director to a couple of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's biggest hits.

Whedon was also recently brought in to direct a movie on DC's Batgirl.

Because of Snyder's refusal to stall the movie, "Justice League" is still set to be released this 17 November in the US.

The next DCEU movie to be released is "Wonder Woman", on 1 June in Malaysia, 31 May in Singapore and 2 June in Cambodia.
