Live-action "Lady and the Tramp" fetches director

How will this very iconic "spaghetti kiss" scene play out in the live-action/CGI adaptation?

20 Mar – Disney has unveiled what may be the one of its streaming service's first movies and it is none other than the live-action remake of its 1955 animated classic, "Lady and the Tramp".

The project is already in the works as the canine-starring movie has fetched animator Charlie Bean as its director, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The remake will be a mix of live-action and CGI, which means Bean, who has worked on various animated series (from "Tiny Toon Adventures" to "Tron: Uprising") and films ("The Powerpuff Girls Movie") since the early '90s, will still be in his element.

Bean turns feature director with last year's "The Lego Ninjago Movie", so the upcoming remake should be in good hands.

"Lady and the Tramp", the original 1955 version, follows the romantic tale of Lady, a pampered Cocker Spaniel who finds herself having to survive on the streets after being turned out by her owners, and Tramp, a streetwise mongrel who helps her and protects her.

As mentioned, the live-action remake will be released on Disney's streaming service, which is slated to launch in 2019.

Disney has plans to release four to six of its movies on the platform every year.

Another content that is currently in the works for the digital streaming service is the Jon Favreau-helmed live-action "Star Wars" series. Other offerings will include contents from Pixar and Marvel.
