Press conference of the Iranian Film Festival Malaysia 2018 at GSC Mid Valley.

1 Mar – The first ever Iranian Film Festival Malaysia is happening this March, where fans of Persian movies will not only get to watch critically acclaimed movies from the land of the four seasons, but also meet film stars who will be coming all the way from Iran.

Marking its first ever film festival in the country, the organisers have invited director Pooran Derakshandeh and actress Merila Zarei ("Under the Smoky Roof") for the Kuala Lumpur launch on 5 March, and director Abolhasan Davoodi and actress Azita Ajian ("Crazy Castle") for the Penang and Johor Bahru launch events that would be taking place on 12 and 15 March, respectively.

Actress Merila Zarei will be coming over for the Kuala Lumpur launch event this 5 March 2018.

Bringing over the best of Iranian cinema, especially award-winning movies from Iran's annual Fajr Film Festival, the six movies that will be screened in Malaysia are: "Under the Smoky Roof", "Sweet Taste of Imagination", "The Queen", "Crazy Castle", "Ceasefire 2" and "Where is My Shoes".

All of the films mentioned above are picked due to their outstanding stories that offer audiences a diversity of genres - from romance to thriller - to pick from.

The film festival will first debut at Kuala Lumpur (7 to 11 March), and will then head to Penang (12 to 14 March) and Johor Bahru (15 to 17 March) at selected GSC International Screens such as GSC Pavilion KL, GSC Mid Valley Megamall, GSC Gurney Plaza and GSC Paradigm Mall Johor.

The best part of the Iranian Film Festival Malaysia 2018 is that movies tickets will be FREE. Redemption is on first-come first-serve basis from GSC Pavilion KL, GSC Mid Valley, GSC Gurney Plaza and GSC Paradigm Mall Johor ticketing counters from today onwards.

Supported by Cinema Online as the media partner, the Iranian Film Festival Malaysia 2018 is organised by the Cultural Center, Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Golden Screen Cinemas. It is also supported by the Farabi Film Foundation, Hoze Honari Organisation and the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS).
