1 Jul – It's been four years since any mutant turtles, specifically teenage ninja ones, were spotted on the big screen, but they're all set to return as Seth Rogen is now working with Nickelodeon on a new CG reboot.

Rogen will be producing under his Point Grey Pictures (PGP) banner, along with co-founder Evan Goldberg and PGP president James Weaver, according to Deadline.

The upcoming reboot of "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" will be CG animated, making it the first CG movie version since Warner Bros.' 2007 "TMNT". It also marks the first CG theatrical production for Nickelodeon Animation Studio.

There are no details on the plot yet but it is known that Brendan O'Brien, who previously worked with Rogen on "Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising" (or "Bad Neighbours 2" in certain markets), will be writing the screenplay, while "Gravity Falls" director Jeff Rowe will be helming.

The last time the Ninja Turtles were brought to life on the big screen was in 2016's "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadow", produced by Nickelodeon Movies and Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes.

That was the second and final instalment, following 2014's "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles", in the live-action reboot series that starred Megan Fox and Will Arnett. A third movie was originally planned but was later scrapped when the sequel underperformed.

Nickelodeon is also working on another ninja turtles movie, which will be a 2D animation produced with Netflix and based on its current "Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" animated series.

Rogen, whose last movie roles were starring opposite Charlize Theron in "Long Shot" and voicing Pumbaa in the live-action "The Lion King", will be seen this August in "An American Pickle", which is set to be the first original film released by the new streaming service, HBO Max.
