23 Aug – Scarlett Johansson's legal rep is now clapping back at Disney, after the studio decided to try and go into arbitration to resolve the contract issue between the two parties.

The actress' lawyer John Berlinski, who addressed Disney's most recent move, stated that the studio is now trying to hide its misconduct in a confidential arbitration after its earlier misogynistic attack against the actress.

"Why is Disney so afraid of litigating this case in public? Because it knows that Marvel's promises to give Black Widow a typical theatrical release 'like its other films' had everything to do with guaranteeing that Disney wouldn't cannibalise box office receipts in order to boost Disney+ subscriptions," Berlinski said.

"Yet that is exactly what happened – and we look forward to presenting the overwhelming evidence that proves it."

Scarlett Johansson sued Disney back in July, claiming that the simultaneous hybrid release of "Black Widow" via theatres and Disney+ was a breach of contract and has significantly cut into her salary - seeing that the actress would also receive bonuses based on the movie's box office performances.

In response, Disney stated that Johansson was callously disregarding "the horrific and prolonged global effects of the COVID-19 pandemic", which had since received backlash from many parties - including co-chairman of Creative Artists Agency, Bryan Lourd, who blasted Disney for attempting to make Johansson seemed insensitive towards the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Black Widow" serves as the origin story of Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow
