Lotus Five Star (LFS) cinemas unveiled its 8-screen Cineplex on 14 January 2012 at Prangin Mall, Penang, after taking over the Cathay Cineplex which ceased operations on 13 November 2011. This would be Penang's third LFS Cineplex after LFS Bukit Jambul in Bayan Lepas and LFS Butterworth in Seberang Prai.
