Watch this if you liked: "Ray", "Dreamgirls"

In the movie, popular singing group "The Real Deal" were a big hit back in their glory days, but eventually the three members went off on their separate ways. Samuel L. Jackson and Bernie Mac come together as two singers who reunite after the death of their former group leader played by John Legend. This sends them driving across the country for a tribute concert in Memphis for their friend, while slowly letting go of the long-held grudge between them along the way.

Unfortunately, the two real soul men in the movie - comedian Bernie Mac and legendary singer-songwriter Isaac Hayes both passed away due to health reasons, before this movie reached us. So watching this film does make you miss them and appreciate them more, especially when the credits roll and behind-the-scenes footages of them are played.

Mac and Jackson are two very talented actors can bicker a lot with each other till the cows come home! However, be warned as almost every sentence uttered by these two guys are 'enriched' with the foulest words ever to have come out of any black man's mouth. If your country has strict film censorship rules, then this film wouldn't be as much fun to watch as it would have lost its pizzazz. That aside, it's nonetheless still wonderful seeing how both of them carry their roles with ease; Mac as a goofy, women-loving character while Jackson has a more serious and responsible nature. Nevertheless, they create great on-screen chemistry. On the other hand, Sharon Leal's character is nicely incorporated into the film, giving a feminine touch to these soul men. She sings beautifully and harmonised well with songs.

The soundtrack of the movie can be described as soulful, groovy and very catchy such as "I'm Your Puppet", "Boogie Ain't Nuttin'" and "Can Never Say Goodbye". It brings you back in time to the sweet and meaningful songs from the 60's and 70's, unlike the songs nowadays that has hidden meanings and are more towards creating new beats. The audience are treated to a nostalgic and familiar sound to their ears.

The story has a lot of humour and comedic moments that will keep you laughing and is overall a fun film meant to watch with a group of friends.
