"Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou?" Shakespeare's "Romeo And Juliet" have shaped many ideas about true love and the setting for "Letters To Juliet" will add more.

Sophie (Amanda Seyfried, last seen in 2009's "Jennifer's Body") is an aspiring writer who goes on vacation in Verona, Italy. There, she finds the house of Juliet where weeping women pour their hearts out in letters to Juliet and paste them on the walls. Sophie later finds out that there is a group of ladies called 'The Secretaries Of Juliet' who answers these letters and she helps them answer one she found which was buried some 50 years ago. To her surprise, the lady in the letter - Claire (Vanessa Redgrave) - has come back to Italy with her grandson Charlie (Christopher Egan) to find her long-lost love Lorenzo after reading Sophie's letter. Sophie then sets out with Claire and Charlie on this seemingly impossible journey. Will she find her Lorenzo?

Stories about love never get old, and in "Letters To Juliet" one also finds that true love is never too late. It is great to see that love is not just for the younger generation. Elderly couples like Claire and Lorenzo can be just as loving, if not more; and what do you know? Even older people can have lots of fun! Vanessa Redgrave certainly nailed her role as Claire, the ever-charming lady that men still fall for. And yet, at times in the film, one also sees a woman who is vulnerable and didn't have the courage to go with the man she loves.

Amanda Seyfried puts up a commendable performance as Sophie as well. Her gorgeous eyes are put to great use here, and the saying that "the eyes are the windows to the heart" is so apt! Let's not also forget the beautiful shots of Italy, with places like Tuscany, Verona, and Siena in its entire splendour. Rolling hills, beautiful orchards, and rustic houses at the countryside - no wonder Italy is known as the country of romance!

Still, the film does have its little 'flaws'. Some lines can be so sweet and cheesy, one wonders if the screenplay had been written by people who were high on sugar. On the whole though, "Letters To Juliet" is very pleasant and definitely a feel-good film for a girls' night out. Not only does it make you feel all lovey and mushy inside, but it also makes you want to book a ticket to Italy to experience it yourself! One can just foresee the amount of people visiting Italy rise exponentially in the near future. Now, where did that passport go...
