It comes as confusing for some people, as the storyline for "Senario Asam Garam" is similar with the comedy film "Aman" which supposed to be made after it was launched last year. But due to unforeseen circumstances, "Aman" was axed. Therefore, Prof. Dr. Hatta Azad Khan 'replaced' it with "Senario Asam Garam" by changing the plot of the storyline, yet maintaining the same lineup of stars like Shafimie Don, better known as Fimie Don, Azlee Jaafar and Lan Pet Pet.
"Senario Asam Garam" tells the rivalry between Pak Adam (Azlee Jaafar) and Asam (Zaibo) in their respective businesses and also for the attention of Cik Hawa (Julia Hana), a single mother with a designer whiz kid named Amin (Fimie Don). Asam and his assistant Garam (Lan Pet Pet) constantly try to sabotage Pak Adam's plans.
It's a bit sad when Hatta's first comedic film doesn't shine, especially by the presentation of the film. The comedy element portrayed in the movie fails to make the audiences laugh, even to the extent of boredom for some. The writer feels that if humor is presented in a precise way, rather than slapstick comedy.
After bursting into the scene almost 16 years ago, the Senario group is still able retain their popularity in the local entertainment industry. Even with the reshuffling of members and various issues faced by the team didn't deter their spirit to entertain their fans. The writer feels that their acting didn't show much improvement in this film; in fact it's the same as the other Senario movies! The absence of Wahid due to other commitments seems to have no effect in this movie at all. Fimie, who is well known in the drama "Hikayat Putera Shazlan", has the capability to go far in the acting industry even though he's just 12 years of age. He doesn't feel awkward next to his co-stars, even performed well alongside veteran actors.
It could be said in the heart of the writer that the movie didn't have the branding for Senario when there are only two of its group members who are involved. Although the malignant message which disadvantages one were well shown by the director. What ever more, "Senario Asam Garam" are still able to captivate every age group in the community with its light storyline which don't require one to think.
The writer feels that it would do good if the movie doesn't carry the 'Senario' branding, seeing that only two of the Senario group is in this movie. Nonetheless, the message of 'hatred brings no benefits' is successfully presented by the director. "Senario Asam Garam" will definitely captivate all audiences with its simple storyline.
