Watch this if you liked: “Khamoshi”, “Black” & “Koi Mil Gaya”

Expectations increase when one hears that the man behind the camera is none other than Sanjay Leela Bhansali or commonly known as Bhansali, the same director who did films such as "Devdas" (2002), "Black" (2005) and "Saawariya" (2008). Here comes his latest venture "Guzaarish", 'Request' if translated in English. Bhansali's films are usually inspired by stories that focus more on love, life and sacrifices.

Ethan Mascarenhas (Hrithik Roshan) was a great magician till one tragic accident causes him to go under Paraplegic "Paralysed" and he is confined to a wheel chair for life. Sofia (Aishwarya Rai Bachchan) is the nurse who is hired to take care of Ethan. Due to his continuous suffering for more than 14 years, Ethan files a petition in court for mercy killing. A decision that affects many around him and this is the story of how Ethan fights off his sufferings with his rights and dignity.

This is the leads' third time pairing after "Dhoom" (2005) and "Jodha Akbar" (2008). As fine actors in Bollywood, both performed extremely well and have even gone through a drastic appearance change. This also marks as Aishwarya's third time collaboration with Bhansali. It has been fascinating to watch her because this seems to be the only director who is capable of showcasing her true talents. Meanwhile, newcomer (Aditya Roy Kapur) who can be seen in "Action Replayy" is appealing as the film's pivotal character.

The story and dialogue of "Guzaarish" are well written making the director's devotion and dedication towards his craft inspirational and motivating. Bhansali also puts behind all the glitz and glamour and delivers a unique story told through a series of flashbacks about Ethan and the people around him.

Cinematographer Sudeep K. Chatterjee has created some alluring and enthralling visuals. The shots of Goa are wonderfully taken and kudos to the cinematographer for giving a different atmosphere towards the film. Moreover, the effects of the magic sequences are well done.

The songs in "Guzaarish" are poetic and one would never have guessed that Bhansali turns musician here for the first time. 'Tera Zikr Hai Ya Itra Hai' by Rakesh Pandit & Shail Hada, 'Sau Gram Zindagi' by Kunal Ganjawala and the title song by KK & Shail Dada are the most notable tracks in the film. A good attempt for a first timer.

Go watch "Guzaarish" as it showcases Bhansali's ingenuity in displaying a beautiful and enriching story.
