"The Resident" is about a woman who is trying to find a place to stay after she suspects that her boyfriend is cheating on her when she suddenly finds a nice place to stay in the house owned by Max, played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan.

The plot of the movie is not that decent however the setting of the movie is quite good. The lead cast is respectable although the movie somehow seems like merely a vehicle for Hillary Swank to show off her body, which is a surprise from an Oscar-winning actress.

The writer feels that Swank should stay away from horror/thriller genres as her portrayal as a doctor is not as convincing. Proving no difference from her last performance in such genre with "The Reaping", her portrayal in "The Resident" is weak and embarrassing compared to her enviable work history. Jeffrey Dean Morgan on the other hand, pulls off a very brilliant psychotic landlord which only adds up to his remarkable filmography after his portrayal as the team leader in 2010's "The Losers". Meanwhile, audience can anticipated the appearance of Christopher Lee who proves that he is nothing short of his acting talents.

Overall, The Resident is a watchable horror/thriller movie given that one discards all logics in the cinema.
