Watch this if you liked: "Ular" and "Ananconda".
"Ular" is the latest film created by Jason Chong and it is the first "creature feature" genre that is produced in Malaysia.
The great performers who starred in this film are Lisa Surihani, Yusry Abdul Halim, Izzue Islam, Sharifah Sakinah, Zarina Zainuddin, Harun Salim Bachik, Zarina Anjoulie Lavocah, Mamat Sepah, Namron and many more.
Firstly, the reviewer feels that the film exploited actress Zarina Anjoulie Lavocah as if she was given the job of wearing sexy clothes throughout the film and sometimes the film even focuses on the sex appeal.
The dialogue and script are also exhibited as less than powerful and it was unmemorable even though it was coupled with humour . Sadly, the comedy was weak and Harun Salim Bachik's presence in the film was a bit perverted.
In addition, the film also looked like it wasn't too realistic even though it was said that they had used actual snakes for the film. The CGI and graphics that were used on the other snakes looked like they didn't even try to make it seem real.
Despite the weak points, the action scenes were pretty creative like during the part where Izzue Islam's bones tore out and are clearly visible and even the reviewer felt like it was pretty terrifying to see.
Some of the snakes scenes when they were attacking prey will leave you feel frightful if you're not careful.
In terms of the plot of this film, it looks like it was klutzy and unclear as there is no character development whatsoever and sometimes the film was confusing. Even with a steady lineup of performers it is expected that a film should also have a steady storyline!
To be honest there are aspects that should be praised and proud of but in terms of storyline it was actually a boring film starring pretty great performers who, in this film, had their potential wasted.
"Ular" is a good try although there are many disadvantages in terms of CGI and visual aspects. In conclusion, in case you are interested Lisa Surihani, Yusry Abdul Halim and Izzue Islam you should give the film a try.
