King of comedy film, director (David Dhawan) returns with his latest comedy venture titled "Rascals". Well at times, the man behind the camera does deliver some good comedy films and at times one could forgive the director for presenting some silly films such as this.

"Rascals" is about Chetan Chauhan (Sanjay Dutt) and Bhagat Bhosle (Ajay Devgan), two con artists who rob a gangster named Anthony Gonzalves (Arjun Rampal) not once, but twice during their trip to Bangkok. As the two con artists see their individual relationships soar when they bump into Kushi (Kangana Ranaut) and fall head over heels for her, Anthony decides to take revenge. Chetan and Bhagat then swiftly change identities in order to woo Khushi. As the story progresses, the fun and frolic between the three begins. What happen next is just a series of mishaps involving all of them.

Other than the main cast, Satisk Kaushik returns in front of the camera again (before this he had been directing) to provide an additional humour to the film, while Chunkey Panday is sometimes funny, his talents are mostly wasted. Sanjay Dutt and Ajay Devgan transform into their usual comedy roles, but Arjun Rampal as a gangster, not only was funny, but looks good too. All eyes will definitely be on Kangana Ranaut as the sexy star does provide major improvements in acting through her character, Kushi. She's probably the only female star who keeps improving with more films to her credit.

The baseless plot of the film does not help it in the first and second half of its duration, as the only way the film moves forward is through the comedy elements it provides. One would strongly suggest that by comedians Johnny Lever or even Paresh Rawal appearing in the film, it would have made things more enjoyable, but sadly, they weren't even cast.

The "Rascals" soundtrack is similar as to any other Bollywood comedies out there, however the title song is quite catchy. Vishal-Shekhar and Himesh Reshamiya share credit as the music directors of the film.

Overall, "Rascals" is not just funny, but it's quite stupid and silly in a funny way. Well to be fair, it does provide some smiles, but there's nothing more to expect from that. Go watch this only if you have some extra time over the weekend.
