The Grey

When a plane crashes in Alaska, the only survivors are members of an oil-drilling team. However, they may not be survivors much longer when they realise that they are stranded in the wild and hunting them are a pack of wolves who see them as intruders. They would have to use a little more than their wits if they want to make it out alive.

Watch this if you liked: “Hanna” and “Unknown”

When we first hear the title, we might have thought that "The Grey" is a horror movie. Fortunately, or unfortunately, depending on the viewer, it is actually a thriller about a group of men trying to survive in the wilderness of Alaska. Joe Carnahan directs, whose previous credits include "The A-Team" and "Smokin' Aces".

It is clear that Carnahan knows Neeson like no other, for this movie is built around and for Neeson alone.

"The Grey" begins with Neeson seated in a plane with a group of men that soon crash lands in Alaska. At first, the men plan to wait it out by building a shelter to take cover from the harsh cold, but their plan soon turns into a battle for survival when they find that they are not the only living beings in the area.

The movie is a thrilling and exhilarating ride that will make you forget your life for 117 minutes. The plot and action are so fast-paced that viewers be on the edge of their seats waiting to see what happens next. Of course, the movie brings nothing new to cinemas, but is filled with scenes that borders on ridiculous, bringing to mind Stallone's "Cliffhanger". However, everything is worth enduring for Neeson's epic performance. Carnahan manages to show the various emotions from everyone present, such as weary, fear, desperation and determination, but no one does it better than Neeson.

Trust me, the reason of why you should watch "The Grey" is Neeson, and nothing but him. You will not be disappointed.

Besides the normal version, "The Grey" is also available in 2D in Singapore.
