Watch this if you liked: "The Croods" and "Frozen"

You probably would have never seen an animated feature that is a little educational and absolutely whimsical, all at the same time like this before. "Mr. Peabody and Sherman" is a delightful, fun and heartfelt 3D cartoon about a really smart dog and his adopted son Sherman with their time machine.

The premise of it would have already been a great idea for a day-to-day television show, and it was one back in the day where they tackled history's biggest icons each episode and try to solve some of the problems like "Doctor Who".

Now that it is adapted to a film, DreamWorks had successfully created a story that was interesting enough to be an entire film, yet still retains the magic of the original aspects of the show.

Watching it with 3D glasses, you would be swept away by the fantastic and sometimes psychedelic visuals, especially when they go through the warped time zones on their way to a time in history.

But visuals aren't the only thing that stands out in the film. "Mr. Peabody and Sherman" has a lot of heart, which is one thing they do better than the 2 dimensional cartoon show from "Peabody's Improbable History". They tug at your heart strings because of the love of a father and son, and the challenges of trusting your kid to do the right thing or charging up to save him.

Like the reviewer said before, the film was whimsical, in a sense that it still retained the sudden appearances of King Tut or Marie Antoinette in the modern world and you have to stop yourselves from thinking "What in the heck is going on?".

And while it did have a terrific sense of humor, some of the jokes can still be only appealing to kids but some were silly enough for the adults to really enjoy the film.

The cartoon short in the beginning of the film will also make you appreciate the whole experience, with Steve Martin voicing the lead character.

Speaking of voices, you will appreciate the familiar sounding ones like Leslie Mann as Patty Peterson, Stephen Colbert as Paul Peterson, and Patrick Warburton as Kind Agamemnon.

But Ty Burell's Mr. Peabody, Ariel Winter's Penny Peterson and Max Charles' Sherman will still connect with you, and will surprise you with how much character they bring into their cartoon alter egos.

Parents with their own little Sherman's are encouraged to have a fun day at the theaters with this one. It will not only please you because of how much your kid will learn about history (albeit a bit of a warped version of it, but sort of true nonetheless), but the heart of the story will also resonate with you for some time.
