Watch this if you liked: "Gone Girl", "Return to Sender" & "Double Jeopardy"

The Good, the Bad and the Not Quite 'Gone Girl':

• The premise of the story and even the sinister soundtrack utilised in "Return To Sender" might call upon some "Gone Girl" flashbacks, but this movie is best described as a lite version of "Gone Girl".

• Rosamund Pike shines once again as a disturbed woman and is fast establishing herself as a 'thriller genre darling', however, she should stray from roles like this in the future to avoid typecasting. Unless of course the role allows her to go to the very extremes.

• There are many dark elements in this movie (rape, post traumatic stress disorder, prison and revenge) that if explored to its darkest potential would've made for a great raw and gritty revenge flick, but the execution and depiction of the depravity is too subtle to the point that it doesn't invoke any kind of reaction from the audience when it finally plays out on screen.

• Young heartthrob Shiloh Fernandez manages to break his pretty boy stereotype by playing a rapist that portrays his sleaziness effectively via sidelong glances and downcast stares that's quite unsettling.
