The Good, the Bad and the Final Match:

Director Shamyl Othman's second feature-length film is a full-on comedy that talks about working together despite having different backgrounds with a strong sense of patriotism.

The comedy follows two avid fans of the local football team who are of different races; Malay and Chinese - as they go on an eventful road-trip to catch the final match between Malaysia and Thailand all while trying to run away from loan sharks.

The movie is full of witty and hilarious jokes and all of them are spontaneous and natural. Although some of the jokes do seem to be a little bit forced, but overall, the whole plot is quite smart and enjoyable.

The movie reflects the reality of a typical Malaysian society in a funny and convincing way. The points and facts given in the movie sarcastically point out the harsh truths of what has been happening around Malaysia recently, but in a silly way.

Ah Niu and Shaheizy Sam have a very good chemistry together in the movie and their performance in the film is thoroughly entertaining. Same goes to the other supporting cast and also those who made cameo appearances - their on screen personas were really humorous and entertaining.

The only drawback is the romantic cliche during the climax of the film where our hero confesses his love to a supporting character at the football stadium, which is kind of cheesy and unnecessary for the plot progression.

Nevertheless, the film is a good effort with a decent and entertaining plot and delivers a great message about racial harmony and loving your country.

Trivia

• The film only took 27 days of shooting.
