The Good, the Bad and the Broken Dreams:

Following Chiu Keng Guan's success with "The Journey" back in 2014, the record breaking director is back with his latest film "OlaBola". Can he break his own record?

Chiu Keng Guan's latest film is a moving tale about an unlikely multicultural team of footballers who have to rise above their differences and personal struggles for a chance at international success. The original story is inspired by true events during the glory days when the entire nation stood as one behind the national football team.

The cinematography for "OlaBola" was beautifully shot as the film covered some amazing locations including Redang Island, Broga Hill, Sabah and the majestic Stadium Merdeka. Nature lovers would appreciate the scenic moments in this film. Some computer graphics was also done to enhance the 80's feel of some scenes which gives it that authentic look.

Although the plot and script was easy enough to understand, the multicultural drama accurately portrayed Malaysia during the 80's from the characters daily struggles to personal endeavours. Centred on football, Guan managed to inject simple emotions into the scenes where anyone could relate to.

Guan's use of new actors does not disappoint as there was not one scene that was flawed. The characters mentioned that shooting the football scenes was tough as they got more tired with every take, but it only made the scene appear more intense. Bront Palarae's performance was great as the veteran actor mentioned he had undergone radio training for a month to get into character.

Trivia:

• The film marks actor Saran Kumar's first movie.

• "OlaBola" is Malaysia's first feature film to use the immersive Dolby Atmos sound technology which gives audience optimal surround sound quality.

• The actors had to undergo 3 hours of football training 4 times a week.
