The Good, the Bad and the Inter-Species Romance:

• An empathetic tribute to classic Hollywood monster movies filled with creativity.

• The visuals of the film can be experienced both, emotionally and on an intellectual level with its unorthodox story.

• The repetitive use of shades of aqua green on everything during the entire film emphasises on the aquatic theme the movie is based around.

• An adult fairy tale that highlights upon racism, homophobia and the fear of the unknown.

• The movie features an out of the ordinary relationship with their inter-species romance which adds a strange romantic element to the story.

• Unlike Del Toro's favourite fighting behemoths like those from "Pacific Rim" and "Mimic", the real monster in this movie isn't the one in chains but the ones who put the chains on it.

Trivia:

• The design of Amphibian Man was heavily inspired by the film "The Creature from the Black Lagoon (1954)".
