The Good, the Bad and the Billionaire Boys :

• An interesting take on the true story it is based on, with director James Cox choosing to use the star witness Dean Karny as the narrator instead of the main perpetrator Joe Hunt.

• This gives audience a feel of how the trials must have been like with Karny testifying against Hunt the moment their club started unravelling back in the '80s.

• Knowing that younger audiences are more likely to be drawn to the cinema by handsome and beautiful youngsters partying it up, the first half of the movie is styled like a typical '80s-themed slice-of-life drama, with arresting visuals and fun music.

• The movie switches gear and turns darker halfway through. Things start becoming convoluted here, as Karny says, the real accounts were really just his words against Hunt, no one knows the truth of what really happened.

Trivia:

• Judd Nelson, who plays Joe Hunt's father in this movie, previously starred as Joe Hunt himself in the 1987 TV movie of the same name.

• The movie is based on the real life Billionaire Boys Club organised in 1983 by Joe Hunt, who used get-rich-quick schemes to attract young inexperienced sons of wealthy families to join the club.
