National athletes joined "Independence Day 2" screening

The two martial artists are super excited for the movie!

23 Jun – 20 years have passed since the first "Independence Day" film, now fans of the original movie will finally be able to watch the long-awaited sequel in cinemas starting from today onwards!

However, winners of Cinema Online contest get an early treat as they got to watch the movie two days before the official release date, together with two national karate athletes – Syakilla Salni Jefry Krishnan and Sharmendran Ragunathan.

Check out the lines at Cinema Online's booth, and Cinnamon was there too!

"We're very excited for the movie," both athletes exclaimed together!

"I watched the trailer and it was crazy! You can see the KLCC collapse, I think a lot of people want to watch that part!" said Sharmendran, Malaysia Team captain for Karate and SEA Games gold medalist.

Sharmendran also said that he's a fan of another disaster film, "2012", so he hoped
that this movie will be as good as "2012".

"Well, frankly I didn't watch anything or do research about this movie at all, I just want to be surprised!" said Asian Games champion Syakilla Salni.

Look at the beautiful smile on Syakilla's face, she too is excited for the film!

Meanwhile, fans of the disaster film were also equally excited to watch the movie, especially those who already watched the first film.

"It's been 20 years since the first movie, and I already watch the first film like 30 to 40 times!" said Wong Wai Tsung who came to watch the movie with his son.

Wong is a huge fan of the film, and can't wait to watch it with his son.

When asked whether the movie can surpass the predecessor, Wong replied "It's going to be a very tough job, because back in 1996, the CGI was considered exceptional for that period where as now, CGI effect is already a norm, but I'm still hoping for the best!"

Heera Mae John however believes that the sequel will be better than the first one because it has better special effects and also because the impact of the storyline will be bigger.

"I think it will be better because the mother alien is coming, the impact will definitely be bigger, there will be more action, the war will be bog, it's going to be huge!" she explained.

Heera and her friend were born the same year when the first movie was released,
but because their parents loved the movie so much, it has been passed on to them!

Heera who came to watch with her friend also commented that they are disappointed that Will Smith will not be in the sequel as he is their favourite character from the first film

"But Jeff Goldblum is going to be there, so I guess that's fine" laughed Heera's friend.

After watching the trailer, Fatin Eleena also said that she can't wait to watch the movie.

"I'm watching this movie with my sister, and she's a huge fan of Independence Day, she's the one who asked me to join the contest and win the passes!"

Eleena managed to win the passes for the sake of her sister!

When asked about her favourite cast to catch in the movie, Eleena responded, "I don't have any specific actor to watch as I'm not really looking forward for the actors but more for the action".

Jane and her friend love movies!

Karen Lu claimed the passes on behalf of her husband Tay Chong Kiat.

Revitha is also excited for "Independence Day: Resurgence".

Teoh Yee Fong happily smiles while holding the passes and "I Love Movies" sign!

Vikneswaran A/L Subramaniam is also a huge fan of the movie.

"Independence Day: Resurgence" continues 20 years after the first alien invasion, and once again, Earth is faced with a new and bigger threat.

The film stars Liam Hemsworth, Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, Jessie Usher, Maika Monroe, Sela Ward and William Fichtner.

"Independence Day" Resurgence" starts showing in cinemas from today onwards on 23 June 2016.
