8 Jun – "The Conjuring 2", one of the most anticipated horror movies this year, is about to open in cinemas soon. However, Cinema Online readers didn't have to wait until the official release date to watch the sequel to 2013's "The Conjuring" as they were given the chance to watch the movie two days earlier! Lucky readers who won the movie passes just by joining Cinema Online's contest were able to attend the premiere screening held yesterday at GSC 1 Utama.
"I watched the first movie, it was scary," said Teoh Keng Guan, adding that he hoped the sequel would be just as good. Most of the crowd seemed to be anticipating the follow-up movie since they enjoyed the first one. There were also those who were looking forward to it because there is much hype surrounding the James Wan movie. "It looks interesting. Everyone is watching, so we're watching too," said friends Wang Siew Foong and Wong Ching Ling.
The movie did not disappoint, as during the screening, though no loud screams were heard, there was definitely a sea of nervous titters anytime the audiences anticipated something scary to pop up on the screen – and loud gasps and tiny shrieks when something does. When asked about their opinions after the screening, most gave positive reactions, saying that they enjoyed it more than the first movie. "It's better than the first movie," said Manny. "But quite a lot of romance for a horror movie."
"The Conjuring 2" follows Ed and Lorraine Warren as they travel to England, where something sinister is suspected to be festering at a council house in the London Borough of Enfield. "The Conjuring 2" starts haunting cinemas this 9 June.
