Following Arnold Schwarzenegger's famous catch phrase - "I'll be back", Malaysia's biggest and most successful annual movie-themed event returns for the fourth year running, serving as a platform for movie lovers to gather together and experience anything and everything movies! Launched in 2006 at Berjaya Times Square over two days and the first of its kind in Malaysia, it was the humble beginning of the many amazing years to come for Movie Carnival. Cinema Online together with MyPartners Communications aims to bring moviegoers closer to one of Malaysia's favourite pastimes – watching movies.
Carrying a hefty load of blockbuster films and activities to entice movie fans, Movie Carnival 2009 is set to take on the festive affair at The Orange and Blue atriums of Sunway Pyramid's new wing for 10 days from 29 May to 7 June. The event coinciding with the school holiday season is opened to the public from 10am to 10pm daily and admission is free.
Spread across 10 days over two weekends, be prepared to be blown away by highly structured movie props on display and catch some of the main blockbuster films of the year such as "Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen", 'Ice Age 3: Dawn Of The Dinosaurs", "X-Men Origins: Wolverine", "Terminator: Salvation", "Star Trek", "Hannah Montana", "Angels And Demons" and "Harry Potter And The Half Blood Prince" among others. Some of the highlights in store for Movie Carnival 2009 include a Heroes and Villains March (a large-scale parade of costume characters) and Superhero Factory (live facility for shoppers to experience costuming and special effects make-up done on them with photo opportunities).
The carnival will continue to bring in local celebrities for meet and greet sessions with fans and expose the audience to what's new in the local movie industry.
The movie bazaar will again be a hive for fans to buy and exchange movie paraphernalia ranging from toys and books to other collectibles; the Carnival will also play host to some of the largest movie fan gatherings in the country, attended by fans of "Transformers", "Star Trek", "Star Wars" and "Lord Of The Rings". Visitors can also expect movie character appearances returning every day, as well as a "Blood: The Last Vampire" Cosplay competition.
