One of the most successful and long running video game franchises of all time is coming soon to the big screen for the first time ever, and we're talking about non-other than "Need For Speed"!

First released in 1994 under the title of "The Need For Speed", this hugely popular car-racing video game spawned a series of successful titles year after year, with the latest one released in 2013 being "Need For Speed Rivals".

To coincide with the upcoming movie release, here are the 7 reasons why you need to get that "Need For Speed".

1. Lead actor Aaron Paul took stunt-driving lesson

Yes, you read that right. Aaron Paul could have choose to rely on professional stunt men to do all the work for him, but viewers (read: fans) will be rejoiced to see the actor himself do most of the stunt driving in the movie.

2. Those car stunts are real!

Unlike most car-racing franchises (e.g. "The Fast And The Furious" series) nowadays, "Need For Speed" director Scott Waugh wants to make sure that the entire car stunts in the movie will be as practical as possible. Some of the spectacular footage you've seen in the trailer, including the one where Aaron Paul drives his car off a cliff and then being pulled away by a helicopter, is practically done live on set and it's for real!

3. Scott Waugh took inspirations from some of the iconic car-chase movies of all time.

Car-chase movie fans will be happy to know that director Scott Waugh based the movie greatly from such genre staples of the late '60s and '70s including "Bullitt", "Smokey And The Bandit", "The French Connection", "Grand Prix" and the original "Gone In 60 Seconds".

4. Introducing "helmet cam"

Want to know what it'll feel like to drive a super-fast car?

Okay, so the use of helmet cam is actually nothing new. After all, the helmet cam can be seen mostly in extreme sports. But still, this is one of the more unique aspects in "Need For Speed". By utilising this particular camera technique, viewers will be getting the feel of a first-person experience from inside the car!

5. 2015 Ford Mustang will be making its big screen debut!

6. This is Aaron Paul's first big screen leading role.

Aaron Paul is finally taking the lead.

Actor Aaron Paul has actually been in the showbiz since the late 1990s. But it wasn't until his breakout hit and his Primetime Emmy award-winning role in TV's "Breaking Bad" that finally got everyone to notice his acting presence. "Need For Speed" is his first major breakthrough in a big-screen leading role after he concluded the "Breaking Bad" series last year in 2013.

7. Scott Waugh knows action
