If you are a fan of Chinese cinema, the name Eddie Peng needs no introduction. Currently one of the most sought-after Chinese actors of today's generation, Peng has worked with many acclaimed actors and directors over the last 10 years since making his big-screen debut via the Taiwanese youth drama, "Exit No. 6".

Since then, he has collaborated with renowned Hong Kong filmmakers including Tsui Hark ("All About Women"), Dante Lam ("Unbeatable", "To The Fore") and Benny Chan ("Call Of Heroes").

In 2016, Peng is enjoying his banner year by starring in a number of high-profile releases including "Cold War 2" and "Call Of Heroes".

Up next this October is the highly-anticipated action drama, "Operation Mekong", in which Peng has once again reunited with Dante Lam for the third time.

Despite this being only his second movie, Eddie Peng had proven his worth as an up-and-coming actor with a huge potential. In this quirky romantic comedy, "My DNA Says I Love You" directed by Taiwanese helmer Robin Lee ("The Shoe Fairy"), Peng exudes effortless charm and likeability to his appealing character as Teddy. His performance, of course, earned him a nomination for Best New Performer at the 2007 Golden Horse Award.

Based on a true story about the troubled life of a young gymnast named Ashin, "Jump Ashin!" is famously known for Peng's breakthrough performance as the titular character. He even bulked up for the role to a convincing build of a gymnast. His hard efforts paid off handsomely when he earned a well-deserved nomination for Best Actor at the prestigious 2011 Golden Horse Award.

Following his breakthrough success in 2011's "Jump Ashin!", Eddie Peng is cast as part of the all-star ensemble which also featured Aaron Kwok and Tony Leung Ka-Fai in Longman Leung and Sunny Luk's impressive directorial debut, "Cold War". The cop thriller, which deals with an internal conflict between a team of high-ranking police officers trying to solve the case of a missing Emergency Unit (EU) van, made a lot of money at the Hong Kong box office and even scored multiple statuettes at the Hong Kong Film Awards. Although Peng just plays a supporting role in this movie as one of the missing uniformed police officers, Joe Lee, he manages to hold his own and delivers an engaging screen presence alongside his fellow co-stars. He reprises his role four years later in "Cold War 2", which already claimed the top spot as the highest-grossing Hong Kong movie of all-time.

Eddie Peng's winning streak as an actor continues to bloom with "Unbeatable", an acclaimed sports drama directed by Dante Lam. Set against the backdrop of mixed martial arts (MMA), the movie centres on Lin Si-Qi (Eddie Peng) who becomes penniless after his wealthy businessman-father (Jack Kao) is forced to file bankruptcy following a stock market crash. When he stumbles upon a forthcoming Golden Rumble MMA Championship while working as a manual labourer in Macau, he decided to give it a shot and learn to master the art of mixed martial arts technique under the coaching guidance of Fai (Nick Cheung).

Although Nick Cheung is the centrepiece of the movie, Eddie Peng proves to be no slouch either against his famous co-star. Similar to Nick Cheung, Peng also underwent a huge physical transformation and achieved an impressive muscular build of an MMA fighter. His performance earned him a Best Supporting Actor nomination at both the Golden Horse Awards and Hong Kong Film Awards.

Mention the legendary martial arts master Wong Fei-Hung, and the name Jet Li immediately springs to mind. After all, Jet Li made the role truly his own in the "Once Upon A Time In China" series. While Eddie Peng is no match to Jet Li's iconic portrayal, he still manages to prove his worth by playing the young Wong Fei-Hung in "Rise Of The Legend". With a satisfying display of onscreen charisma and physical prowess, Peng is convincing enough as a martial arts fighter. The Roy Chow-directed epic, which deals with the origin story of Wong Fei-Hung during the bleak Qing Dynasty era, is also notable for Peng's impressive one-man showdown against a gang of armed assailants in a back alley. His committed performance earned him a Best Actor nomination at the Hong Kong Film Awards.
