"Mortdecai" is an action comedy film featuring Johnny Depp in the titular role. It follows Charlie Mortdecai, an eccentric art dealer, as he travels the world in search of a stolen painting that is rumoured to contain the code to a lost bank account filled with Nazi gold.

Before we feast our eyes on Depp and his well-groomed Mortdecai-'stache in the cinemas this 22 January, let's take a look at some of the more eccentric roles which the chameleon actor has taken on over the years.

Another dark movie for Depp, starring as Ichabod Crane in 1999's "Sleepy Hollow".
