Writer: Florey DM

With a plethora of new cinemas cropping up almost in every corner of the country every year, Malaysian moviegoers are no doubt spoilt for choice when it comes to choosing the perfect cinemas to indulge in cinematic pleasure. It's not just the quantity but the quality. As more cinemas open nationwide, the exhibitors also introduce various kinds of hall and seat types to keep things fresh and attractive to consumers, thus improving the quality of cinematic offerings. No babysitters for your kids this weekend? No worries, bring your little ones along to one of the kid-friendly halls! Want to fully immerse yourself in a movie? Try the new MX4D seats which give you motion and live special effects! Think that bigger is always better? Catch a movie in IMAX or Big Screen! Confused with all these different options? Check out below the types of halls and seats available in Malaysia:

Those who want 'less crowd, more style' can opt for one the luxury halls, such as TGV Cinemas Indulge (RM45-110). Currently available only at TGV Cinemas 1 Utama, there are two halls with reclining chairs that can accommodate 32 and 40 guests, respectively. The halls also come with comforter blankets, personalised call-waiter-service and a lounge area. TGV Cinemas Sunway Velocity does not have an Indulge hall, but there is the Indulge section in their IMAX hall where patrons can sit in the comfy seats for an extra fee.

mmCineplexes offer luxury with its Platinum Movie Suites (RM40-50), available at mmCineplexes Damansara PJ. It is furnished with adjustable deluxe sofa with up to 140 degrees recline and includes a lounge area (Photo source: mmCineplexes).

Another type of luxury hall is GSC Gold Class (RM58-80), available at GSC Signature @ The Gardens, GSC Pavilion KL and GSC 1 Utama (New Wing). It features wide and comfortable reclining seats, and every two seats comes with a table and a service call button (Photo source: PBB Group).
