What movies should you watch at the Japanese Film Festival?

The arrival of the Japanese Film Festival each year is always met with welcoming anticipation. The 14th edition of the festival this year brings in a total of 14 Japanese titles for the big screen and they encompass a variety of genres to pick from! Whether you want to catch Takumi Saitoh's directorial feature "Blank 13" or see him star in "The Projects", you can also catch some decent comedies in the form of "Samurai Hustle Returns" and "ReLIFE". "Rudolf the Black Cat"

What is it about:
This CGI animation is about a domestic kitten who finds himself lost in the city. He then meets a stray cat who can read human language and together they learn a lot about the world.
Why you should watch it:
This heartwarming tale is based on a popular children's book series by Hiroshi Saito and has sold over a million copies since 1987, however not only will children love the film, but adults will find it equally as appealing too.


"Samurai Hustle Returns"

What is it about:
This follow-up to 2014's "Samurai Hustle" is about country simpleton Masaatsu Naito and his men who are short on money and time to perform an expensive procession march to pay respect to the shogun but are hindered when there is a rebel uprising in their village.
Why you should watch it:
If you are a fan of the Japanese style of comedy (slapstick, mainly) then you should know that "Samurai Hustle" is a really popular entry for the genre. It also raked in RM37.8 million in Japan after spending three weeks in top ten list.


"Seto and Utsumi"

What is it about:
This coming of age story is about two unexpected high schoolers, Seto and Utsumi, who couldn't be any more different but somehow manage to chat about everything under the sun.
Why you should watch it:
This film is a live-action adaptation of the popular Japanese manga series of the same name.
