Malaysian actor-turned-businessman Fizo Omar has been a really hardworking man – dabbling between his acting career alongside his newfound passion in the business industry. Furthermore, the "Isyarat Cinta" actor had recently revealed to Cinema Online during Media Prima's "Syukur Selalu" Raya programme preview at Hotel Istana – that he has been craving for knowledge and decided to further his studies for his Masters and PhD. Having such a big dream, Fizo Omar elaborates more on his future plans... Hi, Fizo! What have you been up to lately? During this fasting month, I've been busy with Media Prima's "Syukur Selalu" programmes. Also, I am still hosting "Nasi Lemak Kopi O" for the fourth year now. I'm also a host for the "Citarasa Teristimewa Thailand" programme with F&N on TV3. It is a travel log show where you go to places and eat a lot. So that's what I've been doing because I have no time for shooting or any activities in the entertainment industry except for hosting. I mostly focus on my business career where aside from my Hot Burger business, I also take on a lot of jobs as a consultant and I get involved in a lot of my own motivational seminars and talks. Other than that, I also try to find some space to gain more knowledge. I've been learning a lot and InsyaAllah in September I will continue my studies for my Masters in Business Administration at Universiti Utara Malaysia. Why did you start being a consultant? When I start focusing on my business, I learned a lot from many business experts in Malaysia. When I started to go to seminars a lot, I began to think of ways to bring benefit to the people, how to share my knowledge and what I know to others. So the first time I conducted my own seminar, the attendance was overwhelming and Alhamdullilah, it was a huge success. Then, there have been requests for me to do some business coaching which caused my schedule to be tight, even for after Raya.
So, you didn't take on any acting jobs at all? For the time being, I think it's better for me to focus on my goals. Right now I am running a few companies but the brand that I'm trying to expand on is FOC which stands for "Fizo Omar Company" where under that main company I have Fizo Omar Consultant, Fizo Omar Corner, Fizo Omar Café and Fizo Omar Centre. So I am currently developing all these companies and my expertise is more towards social media advertising, so that's what I usually consult about. You are handling so many companies at once, how do you segregate your time for your business, seminars and coaching? To me, if you want to be successful, you have to manage your time well. There are other successful people who manage more companies and branches than me, but they can still manage their time properly. The learning process will always be a never ending story. I will continue to learn and I am willing to sacrifice my acting time to gain more knowledge. Truthfully, I really enjoy filming and shooting. But to get something, I have to lose something. So for the time being, I have to lose my passion in acting, so that I can gain more knowledge. That is why I decided to pursue my Masters and PhD. Why did you choose UUM to further your studies? Because the campus is in KL and UUM is one of the universities in Malaysia that has received worldwide recognition for its Masters in Business Administration course.
What do your wife and family think of your plan? Actually, I had started this even before I got married, but at a really slow pace. Back then, I already started learning and attending seminars. When I see my friends in new movies and dramas, I get envious all the time, but I have to lose that to get what I want. I received full support from my wife and mother-in-law who are also business people. When I saw them being so enthusiastic with their respective business, I feel like walking on the same path as them. That's why I've been craving for more knowledge. Since you've been acting less now, is there a possibility that you will quit acting and solely focus on your business and studies some day? No, quitting as an actor never crossed my mind even once. I love this industry so much, it is my passion. I want to continue giving benefit to others and acting is one of the ways. For example, if you're acting as a good person in a certain movie or drama, it will surely leave a deep impression on the audience. I will only play characters that will bring benefit to the audience.
