The best local movie of this year yet, "Sepet", directed by Yasmin Ahmad, has won the main Grand Prize of the Jury at the 27th International Women's Film Festival at Créteil, France. The prize comes with a cash prize of 3, 811 Euro as well as French subtitling by LVT.

Since its release in Malaysian cinemas on 24 February, there has been an increase in the number of people who have watched it and it was reported that an average of 15, 000 people watched "Sepet" every day in the first week of screening.

The heart-warming love story tells of a 19-year-old Chinese boy who falls in love with a 16-year-old Malay girl and how they struggle through their inter-racial relationship.

"Sepet" is currently screening at Tanjong Golden Village and Golden Screen Cinemas cinemas nationwide as well as Growball Cinemax in Kota Kinabalu and Star Kuching Cineplex in Kuching.

Film distributor Sony Pictures Releasing International also mentioned that due to limited prints, there will be second runs in other major towns currently not on the screening list in the next two months.

"Sepet" is still showing in Klang Valley, Kuching, Johor Bahru, Penang, Kota Kinabalu, and since last week, Kuching as well.
