Yasmin's "Sepet" Continues

The award-winning local film "Sepet" has made a great impact on the local film industry.

Besides emerging as the Best Asean Feature Film at the 9th Malaysian Video Awards (MVA), Yamin Ahmad's film also brought honour to the local film industry on foreign soil. "Sepet" won the highest jury honors at the International Women Film Festival of Cretiel in France last March.

"Sepet" had also been invited for screening at the 48th San Francisco International Film Festival last April. It is said to be one of the top contenders for the 18th Malaysian Film Festival (FFM18) together with Saw Teong Hin's "Puteri Gunung Ledang".

Now Yasmin is planning her third feature film, "Gubra", set to start filming sometime in August. The film continues the story set by "Sepet", now featuring the married life of Orked and Ah Loong. Yasmin still maintains the theme of love but in "Gubra" she will touch on the issue of adultery.

The cast of Yasmin's newest film include Adlin Aman Ramli, Namron, Ida Nerina, Harith Iskander, Adibah Noor, Ng Choo Seong and Sharifah Amani.
