The brothers set bigger goals with their move to Cyberjaya next year

16 Dec – KRU Studios is set to shift from their current hub in Jelatek, Kuala Lumpur, to Cyberjaya next year. Announcing their move to the 'interactive territory', due October next year, President Norman Abdul Halim is proud and optimistic with the move, which symbolises their achievement in the entertainment scene for the past 16 years. The announcement held at the Cathay Cineplex Damansara recently was officiated by YB Dato Seri Hj Mohd Shafie Hj Apdal, Minister of Unity, Culture, Arts and Heritage of Malaysia.

The double-storey location, to be built on a piece of 15.39-acre land, is expected to accommodate five audio production studios, five editing studios, one digital imaging studio, one visual effects studio and two soundstage studios with 10,000 per square feet and 2,500 per square feet respectively.

Elaborating further, Norman said that the main reason for the move is the high-speed Internet available there to facilitate fast data transmission to their clients in Singapore and the U.S. not to mention Cyberjaya being only 20 minutes from central KL by car and also being close to the Kuala Lumpur International Airport.

With the growing filmmaking business, the positioning of KRU Studios in Cyberjaya is seen as the best platform for them to produce more creative and advanced products in line with their core business including feature films, television programmes, music, publications and event management.

Refusing to reveal the studio's cost, Norman instead offered that construction for phase one of the studio is scheduled to begin January next year.

KRU's latest project is the "Cicak-Man 2: Planet Hitam" movie, which is playing in cinemas now.
