13 Jun – The Malaysian entertainment industry has finally ventured into Hollywood. What other company to get the ball rolling than one of the leading media and entertainment players in South East Asia – KRU Studios. KRU Studios has announced their first collaboration with Enso Entertainment for the production of an English language motion picture entitled "Deadline". The new psychological thriller represents KRU Studios first effort to enter the mainstream North American Market with the intention of achieving a global theatrical release.
According to the producer of "Deadline", Roger Betterton, this motion picture does not only feature the top Hollywood artistes such as Brittany Murphy, Thora Birch and Tammy Blanchard, but also an elite crew of production personnel. They include Ross Richardson, a renowned Director of Photography in the music and advertising industries (he has handled music videos for Elton John, Michael Jackson, Linkin Park), Steve Arnold, a Production Designer/Art Director for "Spiderman", "Van Helsing" and "Bewitched" and Stephen Flick, Sound Editor for "Constantine", "Blade: Trinity" and "Ultraviolet" so as to provide a top class quality motion picture. Norman Abdul Halim, President & Group CEO of KRU Studios and Executive Producer of "Deadline" states that KRU Studios has big plans for the theatrical distribution of "Deadline" in Asia, and is positive that this will be the gateway for the company's future international releases involving Hollywood A-list artistes. In addition, this collaboration will also allow KRU Studios to demonstrate its visual effects capabilities, with Yusry Abdul Halim as the Visual Effects Director for "Deadline". "Deadline" is expected to release in the second half of 2009.
