5 Oct – According to online tracker Box Office Mojo, the tongue-in-cheek comedy "Zombieland" plagued the North American weekend box office (Oct 1-4) with an estimated US$25 million opening, taking it to top spot, as early studio estimates have shown yesterday. The movie, starring zombie killer Woodie Harrelson, managed to crush the two-week dominance of the children's animated food-fest "Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs", which dropped to second place with US$16.7 million. Meanwhile, Sony Pictures Releasing International in Malaysia declined to comment further on the release of "Zombieland" as the print for local authority approval is not yet in. The movie is slated for 10 December 2009 in Malaysia, while in Singapore on 3 December 2009. Recently, the banning of movies such as "Bruno" and "Halloween II" has caused Malaysian audiences to be sceptical of the release of movies which may be deemed offensive. From what has been reported to be a slow weekend after the Raya holidays, cinema managers within the Klang Valley have commented that new movies such as "Far Cry" and "Sorority Row" didn't quite managed to cut it with the crowd over the weekend. Disney's "G-Force" goes into its third week strong, reportedly GSC Mid Valley and GSC Tropicana's top seller. Meanwhile, according to director M. Jamil's Facebook update, "Momok The Movie" enters its third week with RM2.5 million.
