16 Apr – It was a star-studded gala premiere of "Ice Kacang Puppy Love" at Pavilion KL held recently, where over 30 Malaysian artists gathered in support of Ah Niu's directorial debut. Many Taiwan-based Malaysian stars hit the red carpet such as Lee Sinje, Gary Chaw, Fish Leong, Victor Wong, Nicholas Teo, Penny Tai, Angela Chan, Eric Moo, and Yi Jie Qi. Local radio deejays and television personalities namely Wincci Soo, Suki Low, Daniel Lee, Yise Loo, and Andrew Tan also graced the occasion together with the presence of non-Chinese celebrities like Tony Eusoff, Baki Zainal, Ben Ibrahim, and Dawn Jeremiah.
The 33-year-old singer-songwriter Ah Niu arrived in style with his leading lady, Lee Sinje in a rickshaw, while Yi Jie Qi brought along his pet poodle Cash to support the 'puppy' love theme. Returning from abroad, singers Nicholas Teo and Penny Tai even tried their hand at making their own version of ice kacang on stage in front of hundreds of fans who turned up at the event. Playing in 57 cinemas nationwide, "Ice Kacang Puppy Love" is a semi-autobiographical story filmed in tin-mining town named Tronoh near Ipoh centring on Ah Niu's childhood puppy love experience.
