31 Mar – Three Singaporean films by directors Jack Neo ("Being Human"), Kelvin Tong ("Kidnapper") and Harry Yap ("Happy Go Lucky") are set to hit Malaysian screens in April and May 2010. Jack Neo's recent drama comedy starring Mark Lee released in Singapore on 4 March alongside Harry Yap's family comedy "Happy Go Lucky" starring Fann Wong, however current box office collections showed high response for "Being Human" as it gained nearly S$1 million in ticket sales, while the latter pulled in S$300,000. Costing S$1.2 million to make, "Happy Go Lucky" ended its run last Wednesday after just three weeks in cinemas, while "Being Human" is still showing in Golden Village cinemas. Primeworks Studios will release "Being Human" in Malaysia on 8 April, while "Happy Go Lucky" by RAM Entertainment is due 27 May 2010.
Meanwhile according to Golden Village Pictures, Kelvin Tong's first action thriller "Kidnapper" has earned over S$400,000 after two weeks at the Singapore box office. Starring Christopher Lee and Jack Lim, the story about a taxi driver who defies all odds when his son is kidnapped is set to release in Malaysia on 13 May 2010. Distributor RAM Entertainment disclosed to Cinema Online that Christopher Lee and Jack Lim will be on a promo tour in Kuala Lumpur, tentatively set for 8 May. Stay tuned for updates.
