13 Oct – The late martial arts expert and actor Bruce Lee will have a gallery to honour him set up in Hong Kong, according to a report by Channel News Asia's website.
The Chief Executive of the government-run Hong Kong Heritage Museum, Donald Chang, announced that the gallery would be built within the establishment itself. The only memorial that exists for the actor is currently in San Francisco, the town where he grew up in, but not in Hong Kong itself where the actor introduced martial arts in films on a mainstream level. Earlier in June this year, fans were disappointed when initial plans by the government to make a museum out of Lee's former home fell short after failed negotiations with the property owner. Long after Lee's death, his old home was turned into a hotel with rooms rented by the hour at cheap rates. As of yet, no details are provided on the upcoming gallery, but fans remain hopeful for plans in converting the star's old home. "Of course we're still hoping the government could find ways to turn his old home into a museum," Wong Yiu-keung, chairman of the Bruce Lee Fan Club in Hong Kong was quoted as saying. Bruce Lee died at the premature age of 32-years-old that was ruled as "death by misadventure", due to an allergic reaction caused by painkillers.
