4 May – Just a few days since the death of Al-Qaeda's terrorist leader Osama Bin Laden last Sunday, Hollywood is already busy undergoing two projects to be based on the event; "Kill Bin Laden" by "The Hurt Locker" team of director Kathryn Bigelow and screenwriter Mark Boal, and also Oliver Stone's "Jawbreaker", Deadline exclusively reports. Kathryn Bigelow and Mark Boal's tentatively titled "Kill Bin Laden" which is borrowed from the book's title upon which it's based on, was initially planned to be based on an unsuccessful mission to try to kill the Al-Qaeda leader as he hid in the border region between Pakistan and Afghanistan. However due to the recent developments, Boal will now rewrite the script to include the 40-minute firefight between the US Navy SEALs and Osama which ended in the terrorist's death. Casting is currently under way and no offers will be made until Boal puts the finishing touches on the screenplay although it is rumored that a big Hollywood star will be involved in the project. Meanwhile, back in 2006, Paramount Pictures optioned "Jawbreaker" for Oliver Stone, a story that is based on a book by US intelligence operative Gary Berntsen revolving around the military mission in Tora Bora, Afghanistan during December 2001, which will now be edited to lead up to Osama's capture. Stone is reportedly eyeing "Jawbreaker" as a follow-up to his 2006 movie "World Trade Center", with "The Path To 9/11" writer Cyrus Nowrasteh to redraft a first outline along with Berntsen's co-author Ralph Pezzullo.
