31 Jul – Nolan's final instalment in his "Batman" reboot, "The Dark Knight Rises", certainly does not seem to be making the waves many may have hoped it would, as it failed to match "Marvel's The Avengers" 10-day total another week after its debut (26 - 29 July), grossing only US$287.1 in the U.S. box office, as opposed to the latter's US$373 total. In fact, "The Dark Knight Rises" did not even top its predecessor, "The Dark Knight", 10-day total of US$313.8. However, Nolan's epic superhero film is definitely seeing better reception, commercially and critically, compared to Akiva Schaffer's "The Watch" and Scott Speer's "Step Up Revolution". The former is a science fiction comedy starring Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn, Jonah Hill, and Richard Ayoade a group of neighbours who form a suburban neighbourhood watch group and use it as a front to get away from their families, only to accidentally uncover an alien plot that threatens the world, while the latter is the fourth instalment of the "Step Up" dance film series, this time about a daughter of a wealthy businessman with aspirations of becoming a professional dancer, who falls in love with a young man who leads a dance crew in elaborate, cutting-edge flash mobs. "The Watch" opened in third place after "Ice Age 4: Continental Drift", while "Step Up Revolution" opened fourth.

In Malaysia, "The Dark Knight Rises" continued to top, "The Amazing Spider-Man" was overtaken by newcomer "Greedy Ghost", a Singaporean horror comedy about three men who long to be rich, which results in them making decisions that may cost them their lives. "Ice Age 4: Continental Drift" still held strong in third.

In Singapore, "The Dark Knight Rises" remained in first place with "Ice Age 4: Continental Drift" in second while the Gordon Chan's highly anticipated wuxia film, "The Four", opened in third. Adapted from the popular "The Four Constables" novels, the film tells the story of the formation of the titular group. An undercover agent who is assigned by his corrupt chief to infiltrate a rival department and sabotage their investigation of counterfeit currency. What he discovers is the counterfeiter's real plan is to overthrow the capital, but not by flooding it with counterfeit money, but with an army of undead.
