29 Aug – One of the positive things about a movie is its ability to help raise awareness on the social and environmental issues taking place in reality, with the latest example of this being Warner Bros' anti-animal trafficking film, which is set to be produced by three of Hollywood's hottest leading men, Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire and Tom Hardy, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The idea for the film was put forward by "The Dark Knight Rises" actor, Tom Hardy, after he was deeply inspired by his friends who used to work for the Special Forces before eventually becoming anti-poaching fighters in South Africa and other countries. The yet-to-be-titled film will take a leaf out of the pages of Steven Soderbergh's 2000 crime drama film "Traffic", which explores the illegal drug trade from a number of perspectives: a user, an enforcer, a politician and a trafficker, except that the anti-animal-trafficking film will expose the ugly truth behind poachers in Africa and how innocent wild animals are slaughtered to become materials for fashion houses in big cities. It is no surprise that DiCaprio, a committed environmentalist, has agreed to help produce the film. The 38-year-old actor had starred in another anti-trafficking film before, which was Edward Zwick's "Blood Diamond" in 2006 that was about the politics behind the illegal trade of diamond mined in African war zones. However, there is still no news on whether the trio would star in the film as well. Meanwhile, DiCaprio and Maguire are set to grace the screen next in "The Great Gatsby", an adaptation of the classic F. Scott Fitzgerald novel, whereas Hardy will next be seen in "Lawless" alongside Shia LaBeouf and Guy Pearce.
