18 Dec – The first trailer for Raja Gosnell's sequel to the hybrid live action/animated family blockbuster comedy "The Smurfs", appropriately named "The Smurfs 2", has finally dropped today. This time, the film's spotlight is aimed on Smurfette (Katy Perry), as the evil wizard Gargamel needs a real Smurf to give him the all-powerful, magical Smurf-essence needed, and only Smurfette knows a secret spell to turn his couple of mischievous Smurf-like creatures called the Naughties into real Smurfs. Thus, Gargamel kidnaps Smurfette and brings her to Paris, where he has been winning the adoration of millions as the world¹s greatest sorcerer, only for Smurfette, who has always felt different from the other Smurfs, to find a new connection with the Naughties Vexy and Hackus. Now it is up to Papa, Clumsy, Grouchy, and Vanity to return to the human world, reunite with their human friends Patrick and Grace Winslow, and rescue Smurfette, as well as convince her that their love for her is True Blue. Neil Patrick Harris, Jayma Mays, Sofia Vegara, Hank Azaria and Katy Perry will return to reprise their respective roles in the film while Brendan Gleeson and Christina Ricci join the cast.
"The Smurfs 2" opens in Malaysia and Singapore on 31 July 2013.
