27 Nov – Four-time Grammy Award winner Lenny Kravitz is adding movie credits to his resume these days as the American singing veteran has confirmed to play R&B music pioneer, the late Marvin Gaye on the big screen for the Motown legend's biopic, according to Deadline.

Gaye, was named as one of the most famous music icons of the last century and his songs "Let's Get It On" of 1973 and the 1982 Grammy-winning hit "Sexual Healing" still remains prominently featured in the media today.

Gaye was shot to death by his father after a violent argument back in 1984.

The still-untitled biopic, which has been in talks since 2011, will be directed by English music video director Julien Temple, who is known for his documentary projects on the stories of famous musicians like Paul Weller, The Sex Pistols and David Bowie.

Meanwhile, Kravitz is set to portray the R&B legend, paying a great tribute to his untold legacy in a story that revolves around the late singer's final years in London, Ostend and Belgium during the 80s.

This will be Kravitz's first lead role in his movie career. The New Yorker was previously seen in this year's Hollywood hit "The Hunger Games" as Cinna, a stylist for Jennifer Lawrence's character Katniss Everdeen. The musician-turned-actor will also be reprising his supporting role in "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" in 2013.

Kravitz has a 24-year-old daughter Zoe Kravitz who is also an actress that recently starred as Angel Salvadore in "X-Men: First Class".
