"A Many Splintered Thing" for Evans

Chris Evans and Michelle Monaghan are confirmed to star in "A Many Splintered Thing".

12 Sep – After his stint as the Captain in "Captain America: The First Avenger" and "Marvel's The Avengers", American heartthrob Chris Evans is more in demand than ever, especially by females, and it seems that the actor has decided to address this by joining "Mission: Impossible III" actress Michelle Monaghan in an anti-romantic comedy called "A Many Splintered Thing", according to First Showing.

Directed by Justin Reardon, "A Many Splintered Thing" is a Wonderland Sound & Vision and Voltage Pictures film that will follow the tracks set by "Amelie" and "(500) Days Of Summer". Evans plays a young man who falls in love with an engaged woman (Monaghan) while pretending to be a wealthy philanthropist at a charity dinner. Despite knowing that she is getting married, he is not willing to give up his chance to be with her, and tries to win her over with help and encouragement from his friends.

The anti-romantic piece also marks the first time that Evans will be serving as an executive producer in his career. Shooting is scheduled to begin in October.

Aside from "A Many Splintered Thing", Evans had recently wrapped up his work in "Snow Piercer", a thriller film adapted from the French graphic novel "Le Transperceneige" by Jacques Lob and Jean-Marc Rochette. He will also reprising his role as Captain America in "Captain America: The Winter Soldier", which will be released in 2014.

Michelle Monaghan is better known as Julia Meade, the fiancée of Tom Cruise's Ethan Hunt in "Mission: Impossible III".

Meanwhile, fans of Monaghan will next see her starring in Joseph Ruben's "Penthouse North" alongside Michael Keaton, as well as in Geoff Moore's comedy, "Better Living Through Chemistry".
