2 Feb – Malaysian-born film icon Michelle Yeoh will be honoured at the upcoming Asian Film Awards with the Excellence in Asian Cinema prize. The actress has been in many films including "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon", "Memoirs Of A Geisha" and was even a Bond girl in "Tomorrow Never Dies" with Pierce Brosnan. She has also recently played the part of Aung San Suu Kyi in "The Lady", where Yeoh had spent months learning Burmese and researching the life of the pro-democracy leader.
For transforming herself for various roles in various films for three decades in over 40 films, Yeoh will receive the top honour for film professionals in Asia. When asked about her feelings about receiving the award, Yeoh stated, "It's my goal to continue as an advocate of the Asian film industry and to promote a positive, strong image for Asian women in international films." The awards ceremony will take place on 18 March 2013 in Hong Kong.
