The characters from the Archie comic book series.

Aguirre-Sacasa created a new, horror-themed spin on Archie's adventures called "Afterlife with Archie" earlier this year.

8 Jun – Warner Bros. has closed all deals with Archie Comics announcing a live-action film based on the comic's characters with a possible zombie theme. This will be the first big screen feature for the long-running comic series.

Jason Moore ("Pitch Perfect") has signed on to direct while Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa ("Glee") is penning the script.

The movie is rumoured to have horror elements to it as Aguirre-Sacasa is the key person who wrote the "Afterlife with Archie" series (the new zombie-based comics).

The major challenges for the filmmakers would be updating the characters for today's generation as the Archie Comics has always revolved around the storyline of a quaint, sunny picture of small town teen life.

The comic has only been an animated TV series during the years of 1968, 1970 and 1999. In the early 1970s, a live-action TV special of Archie characters was aired and in 1990, a TV movie.
